The Department of Justice (DoJ) yesterday ordered the filing of murder charges against former Palawan Gov. Mario Joel Reyes, his brother, Mayor Mario Reyes Jr., and three others in connection with the killing of broadcaster Gerry “Doc” Ortega in January last year.

Key staff from Al Jazeera’s Beirut Bureau have resigned citing “bias” in the channel’s stance on the conflict in Syria. Bureau Managing Director Hassan Shaaban reportedly quit last week, after his correspondent and producer had walked out in protest.

A reporter of The Daily Tribune remains in critical condition after he was shot outside his home in Pasig City on Sunday night, March 11. Fernan Angeles, who covers the Malacañang beat, sustained 6 gunshot wounds and a bone fracture, according to his wife Gemma.
